Student Internships
​The Bonneville Power Administration offers unique opportunities for college students to begin exploring careers in energy.

Our Pathways Internship Program enables you to put your education and knowledge to the test in a real-world environment on live BPA projects. As a paid intern you will gain valuable experience supporting renewable energy efforts while working in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

​We are a leader in sustainability and environmental stewardship, promoting energy efficiency, renewable wind, solar and hydropower, the smart grid, fish and wildlife protection and initiatives to address climate change.
To be considered for a Pathways Internship you must
  • ​Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a degree-seeking student (certificate or degree, etc).
  • Maintain at least a half-time enrollment at a post secondary qualifying accredited institution.
  • Be in good academic standing and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.
  • Be at least 16 years old. (Our internships are college level at this time)
  • Be a U.S. citizen to be considered for permanent employment.
  • Pass a background investigation, prior to employment start date.

​Pathways interns are eligible for certain benefits based on the type of appointment and length of time as an intern. The following benefits are included upon conversion from an intern to a full time federal employee. Potential benefits include:
